Google is tightening control over its search data, making it clear that businesses must stay within its ecosystem to remain visible . For small businesses, this means one thing — being ‘Google Ready’ is now more critical than ever . Recently, Google made a bold move by restricting search scraping tools that don’t enable JavaScript. This shook up the SEO industry, but more importantly, it revealed a bigger strategy — Google is locking down its data to stay ahead in the AI race. Think of it like a restaurant with a secret recipe: Google isn’t going to let competitors walk into the kitchen and take notes. Instead, it’s making sure its ingredients — search data, Google Maps insights, and business profiles — stay exclusive to its own AI models . For local businesses, this reinforces the need to stay active within Google’s ecosystem and build a presence across Google-trusted platforms to remain visible. This ensures your business continues attracting leads. If Google is the main road customers use to find businesses, you need to make sure you’re on the map.

Townsville Windows & Screens: Your Local Glazing Experts

For over 30 years, Townsville Windows & Screens has proudly served the greater North Queensland community with a range of security, aluminium, and glass services. Paul Corradini took over the business two years ago, expanding both its offerings and reach. With support from Localsearch, Townsville Windows & Screens has successfully established a strong reputation in the local market.

The Challenge
From managing daily operations to bringing in new customers, Paul faced the strain of ‘doing it all’ as a small business owner. He needed a marketing strategy that could handle the heavy lifting, allowing him to focus on running the business. In 2023, Townsville Windows & Screens partnered with Localsearch to help achieve the perfect balance—growing the business without sacrificing time and losing sight of their goals.
The Strategy

Paul recognised the need for a hands-off marketing strategy that could run effortlessly behind the scenes. When he partnered with Localsearch, he worked closely with Jo Sutton, a Local Marketing Specialist based in Townsville. Together, they rolled out a multi-channel marketing approach through the following steps:

  • Website Revamp: Jo worked with Townsville Windows & Screens to revamp their website, improving the user experience and making it easier for customers to browse their offerings and get in touch. Over the last 30 days, the website recorded a 20% increase in phone calls.

  • Localsearch Plus: A Google Business Profile and Localsearch Business Profile, combined as Localsearch Plus, improved the business’s online visibility and credibility in the local market. Over the last 30 days, the business saw an 81% increase in customers visiting their profiles.

  • Search Engine Optimisation (SEO): A targeted SEO strategy was implemented to increase Google rankings. Paul noted, “We’ve noticed with the SEO that we’re now getting product-specific calls rather than just general inquiries.” Over the last 30 days, the website’s SEO performance resulted in over 21,000 impressions.

  • Google Ads: A Google Ads campaign was launched to target customers searching for Townsville Window & Screens products and services, increasing lead generation by connecting with them at the right moment. Over the last 30 days, the Google Ads campaign saw a 52% increase in conversions.

Together, these efforts created a cohesive marketing strategy that improved the business’s online presence and delivered real results. As Paul puts it, “Having someone like Jo come in and give us a turnkey package has taken the headache out of our marketing. It’s been the easiest and smartest decision we’ve made.”

The Results

Since partnering with Localsearch, Townsville Windows & Screens has seen a significant improvement in both the volume and quality of their customers. The marketing strategy has allowed Paul to focus on daily operations and driving the success of his business.

Key outcomes include:

  • More Time & Reduced Stress: The hands-off marketing approach removed the pressure of constantly juggling multiple responsibilities, enabling Paul to run his business with a clearer focus and more time.
  •  Greater Local Visibility: Townsville Windows & Screens gained increased reach and recognition within the local market.
  • Effective Customer Engagement: A stronger online presence brought in more potential customers, empowering Paul’s team to convert them into paying clients.

Paul commented, “We were surprised by how quickly Localsearch changed our image in the market. We went from not being known to having the phone ring non-stop. That’s the biggest thing we’ve noticed.”
