#2 ranking. 29 leads.Constant phone calls —in a single month.
HMJ Landscapes went from feast-or-famine word of mouth to a steady flow of qualified leads across the Gold Coast — and a professional online presence so polished, a client said it looked "too good" for a tradie.
Who they are
A Gold Coast family business with the largest range of parts in Australia
Hamish started HMJ Landscapes five years ago — just him, some tools, and a lot of hustle. Today the business runs a full crew of two permanent staff plus multiple subcontractors, delivering complete residential landscaping from demolition through to the finished product: concrete, paving, tiles, fencing, retaining walls, and artificial turf. Retaining walls and full start-to-finish home transformations are the bread and butter.
Before Localsearch
Word of mouth and signage — busy one week, dry the next
- Had a website, but it wasn't targeted or driving enquiries
- Relied entirely on word of mouth and job-site signage
- Business flow was inconsistent — feast or famine cycles
- No way to pick and choose jobs or control the pipeline
After Localsearch
Consistent leads, a premium online presence, and the freedom to be selective
- Ranks #2 for "landscaper in Tweed Heads" with regular jobs flowing from across the region
- 29 leads and 12 inbound calls generated in a single 30-day window
- Shifted from chasing work to a steady pipeline of phone calls and email enquiries
- Now selective about which jobs to take on — no longer needing to chase every lead
- Website updated 5–6 times over the past year: photos, service areas, reviews and tracking
- Advertising pays for itself with as little as half a job
"It doesn't feel like a company helping me out. It feels like a group of people with my best interest."

How we did it
The strategy, led by Will Stoten
Will took the time to understand HMJ Landscapes before anything else — the services, the target areas, the type of jobs Hamish wanted to win. The strategy was built around that, not a generic template.
HMJ's new site looks professional enough that a client actually commented it was "too good" for a tradie. That's the point. Even word-of-mouth referrals research online before they call — the site gives Hamish instant credibility and converts curiosity into enquiries.
Targeting started with Hamish's core Gold Coast areas, then expanded across the region as the business grew. The flexibility to pick up or drop service areas means the strategy moves with the business, not against it.
Will checks in every three to four months to review what's changed — staff, targets, busy periods — and adjusts accordingly. When one of Hamish's crew was off injured for months, the strategy shifted to account for it. That's what a real partnership looks like.
