Google is tightening control over its search data, making it clear that businesses must stay within its ecosystem to remain visible . For small businesses, this means one thing — being ‘Google Ready’ is now more critical than ever . Recently, Google made a bold move by restricting search scraping tools that don’t enable JavaScript. This shook up the SEO industry, but more importantly, it revealed a bigger strategy — Google is locking down its data to stay ahead in the AI race. Think of it like a restaurant with a secret recipe: Google isn’t going to let competitors walk into the kitchen and take notes. Instead, it’s making sure its ingredients — search data, Google Maps insights, and business profiles — stay exclusive to its own AI models . For local businesses, this reinforces the need to stay active within Google’s ecosystem and build a presence across Google-trusted platforms to remain visible. This ensures your business continues attracting leads. If Google is the main road customers use to find businesses, you need to make sure you’re on the map.

Who is The Yiros Shop?
The Yiros Shop is home to Brisbane’s most iconic and authentic Greek eats. In 2015, Nick Mitrossilis founded the first location in the renowned James Street, Fortitude Valley. The family-owned business set out to carry authentic recipes down through generations and create the best Greek food around. The Yiros Shop is now rated one of Brisbane’s top Greek restaurants, quickly becoming a go-to spot for local customers. Despite starting out as a small business, The Yiros Shop has now rapidly expanded into a major franchise across South East Queensland.
The Yiros Shop’s Challenges
Frustrated by an underperforming website from their previous provider, The Yiros Shop recognised the critical need to enhance their online visibility. Nick was eager to find a results-driven marketing solution to support the business’s plans for rapid growth. Their website needed to be equipped to manage the expansion to new locations, a growing customer base, and increased website traffic. The original website not only performed poorly but also would not have been able to handle the increase in overall business, making redevelopment imperative for their growth plans.
The Objective

The main goal was to optimise The Yiros Shop’s online visibility and attract more customers through a comprehensive website redevelopment. Nick was eager to solidify his business as the top choice for traditional Greek food in Brisbane and eventually wider Queensland.

How Localsearch Supported The Yiros Shop

Nick collaborated with Local Marketing Specialist, Jake, to discuss how Localsearch could best support The Yiros Shop. Together, they identified the underlying website issues and formulated a plan to address them. It was determined that a new, user-friendly website that ranks on the first page of Google would be the ideal solution to cater for rapid growth. To ensure the strategy was successful, the interactions between Localsearch and The Yiros Shop remained constant. The following steps were implemented:

1. Audit their online presence to gain insights into their business goals, objectives, customer base and competitors.

2. Develop a customised website with location-specific website pages for each of their 16 locations. Use a visually appealing website layout to captivate visitors, emphasising their commitment to authentic Greek food.

3. Manage the Google Business Profile for each of the 16 locations, improving the customer experience by providing accurate and up-to-date information.

4. Implement location-specific SEO strategies to boost local search rankings and expand customer reach.

5. Conduct regular weekly or monthly meetings between Jake and Nick to review and strategise, ensuring the ongoing success of The Yiros Shop.

The Results

The partnership between The Yiros Shop and Localsearch has resulted in a highly successful website redevelopment. We are proud to have played a part in The Yiros Shop achieving its objective of becoming one of the top Greek restaurants in Brisbane and beyond. Let’s take a look at the results over the last 12 months:

  • Rapid Growth: The Yiros Shop has rapidly expanded from a single store in James Street, Fortitude Valley, to 16 locations across greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Their growth doesn’t stop there! With a successful foundation established, The Yiros Shop is set for further growth, aiming to open an additional fifteen stores over the next two years.

  • Established Credibility: Improving The Yiros Shop’s online presence has played a key role in helping the business establish credibility with their customer base. The Yiros Shop has received significant attention in the Queensland hospitality industry, being featured frequently on Brisbane magazine covers and websites.
