Google is tightening control over its search data, making it clear that businesses must stay within its ecosystem to remain visible . For small businesses, this means one thing — being ‘Google Ready’ is now more critical than ever . Recently, Google made a bold move by restricting search scraping tools that don’t enable JavaScript. This shook up the SEO industry, but more importantly, it revealed a bigger strategy — Google is locking down its data to stay ahead in the AI race. Think of it like a restaurant with a secret recipe: Google isn’t going to let competitors walk into the kitchen and take notes. Instead, it’s making sure its ingredients — search data, Google Maps insights, and business profiles — stay exclusive to its own AI models . For local businesses, this reinforces the need to stay active within Google’s ecosystem and build a presence across Google-trusted platforms to remain visible. This ensures your business continues attracting leads. If Google is the main road customers use to find businesses, you need to make sure you’re on the map.

Who is Bonny Hills Garden Centre?

Bonny Hills Garden Centre is a plant lover’s paradise, serving the Mid-North Coast for over 30 years. This local business has become one of the region’s largest and most well-stocked garden centres, dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The Objective
As more customers turned to the internet to find products and services, Bonny Hills Garden Centre recognised the importance of enhancing their online presence. They decided to shift their focus away from radio advertising and invest in a professional website to reach potential customers online. Their primary goal was to enhance their online visibility to attract new customers while keeping existing ones engaged. They aimed to establish themselves as industry experts while maintaining a customer-centric approach to foster accessibility and trust.
The Strategy

Keith, owner of Bonny Hills Garden Centre, partnered with Localsearch to devise a targeted plan to achieve the business’s goals. The strategy was to build a new customised website for Bonny Hills Garden Centre utilising Localsearch’s Smart Website solutions. Together, the following steps were implemented:

  1. New Smart Website: After struggling with an underperforming website from a previous provider, Bonny Hills Garden Centre was eager to build a new website tailored to their business. Our team collaborated closely with Keith to design a site that effectively showcased their range of products and provided a user-friendly experience for their customers’ needs.
  2. Search Engine Friendly: Optimising the new website for local search was a crucial part of the redesign. This ensures that Bonny Hills Garden Centre is easily found by local customers searching online for gardening supplies and expertise.
  3. Monitor Performance: Keeping track of the website’s performance is vital for its continued success. This includes staying informed on Google’s regular updates and making necessary adjustments to ensure the website continues to reach the target audience effectively.

“Localsearch helps us keep our website up to date. When new plants come in, we highlight them on our website so people can see what we’re doing all the time.”  — Keith Hogan, Owner of Bonny Hills Garden Centre

The Results
Since partnering with Localsearch, Bonny Hills Garden Centre has experienced significant growth in their online presence. The newly designed website reflects the business’s commitment to quality and expertise, which has strengthened trust and credibility among both new and existing customers. This successful transition into the online world has resulted in top local search rankings and significant business growth.
