Google is tightening control over its search data, making it clear that businesses must stay within its ecosystem to remain visible . For small businesses, this means one thing — being ‘Google Ready’ is now more critical than ever . Recently, Google made a bold move by restricting search scraping tools that don’t enable JavaScript. This shook up the SEO industry, but more importantly, it revealed a bigger strategy — Google is locking down its data to stay ahead in the AI race. Think of it like a restaurant with a secret recipe: Google isn’t going to let competitors walk into the kitchen and take notes. Instead, it’s making sure its ingredients — search data, Google Maps insights, and business profiles — stay exclusive to its own AI models . For local businesses, this reinforces the need to stay active within Google’s ecosystem and build a presence across Google-trusted platforms to remain visible. This ensures your business continues attracting leads. If Google is the main road customers use to find businesses, you need to make sure you’re on the map.

Background: A Family Business with Over 20 Years of Expertise

J&G Plumbing Solutions, founded by Georgina and Justin Vergunst, has been serving the eastern suburbs of Melbourne for more than 20 years. This family-owned business specialises in providing industrial, commercial and residential plumbing solutions. Georgina and Justin have built their reputation through exceptional service over the years. While word-of-mouth had been the driving force behind their business, it became clear that with a stronger digital presence this would allow the business to thrive and expand in a competitive industry.

The Challenge: Navigating a Digital Shift

As a marketing professional with extensive experience and a deep understanding of SEO, Georgina recognised the importance of finding a trustworthy and effective marketing partner. Whilst leading a team in the retail food industry, she knew growing a digital footprint for J&G Plumbing Solutions would be a challenge and needed a solution that was both affordable and personable. As Georgina puts it, “It’s about finding the right balance—something affordable but built around the needs of a small business.”

The Solution: Tailored Digital Marketing for Online Visibility

With a clear goal to increase online visibility and maximise ROI, J&G Plumbing Solutions partnered with Localsearch for support. Collaborating closely with Local Marketing Specialist Daani Limann, Georgina was provided with a personalised and results-driven strategy. This approach involved optimising J&G Plumbing Solutions' Localsearch business profile and utilising Performance Boost to enhance their online visibility and drive more traffic through to their website.

The Results

"Since partnering with Localsearch, the business has seen significant results. In the last 60 days alone, J&G Plumbing Solutions Performance Boost campaign enabled her ads to reach over 89,000 people resulting in over 2,000 conversions.

Georgina highlighted the importance of building a collaborative relationship and having an effective approach, saying, “It’s been a journey of testing and learning together, but we’ve seen continuous growth month on month.”

Beyond the numbers, Georgina values the flexibility Localsearch offers. “We can scale up or down depending on the workload, which is essential for a family business like ours,” she adds.

The personal connection with Daani and the Localsearch team has been a standout aspect of the partnership. “I know I can text Daani anytime, and he’ll respond. It’s a level of service that’s rare these days,” says Georgina.

For J&B Plumbing Solutions, partnering with Localsearch has been more than a business transaction. It’s been a relationship built on trust, shared goals and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by a small business.  "
