What the 2025–26 Federal Budget Means for Small Businesses
By Katrina Stapleton February 28, 2025
Google is tightening control over its search data, making it clear that businesses must stay within its ecosystem to remain visible . For small businesses, this means one thing — being ‘Google Ready’ is now more critical than ever . Recently, Google made a bold move by restricting search scraping tools that don’t enable JavaScript. This shook up the SEO industry, but more importantly, it revealed a bigger strategy — Google is locking down its data to stay ahead in the AI race. Think of it like a restaurant with a secret recipe: Google isn’t going to let competitors walk into the kitchen and take notes. Instead, it’s making sure its ingredients — search data, Google Maps insights, and business profiles — stay exclusive to its own AI models . For local businesses, this reinforces the need to stay active within Google’s ecosystem and build a presence across Google-trusted platforms to remain visible. This ensures your business continues attracting leads. If Google is the main road customers use to find businesses, you need to make sure you’re on the map.

About Air Sound & Vision

Since the early 80s, Air Sound & Vision has served Cairns and beyond, offering automotive electrical work, air conditioning, and, more recently, premium audio-visual and security solutions. Under the leadership of Kirk Cummings, this family-owned business evolved from a small-scale automotive shop to a trusted provider of high-end home automation projects. But as their services expanded, Kirk recognised a crucial gap: a strong online presence. “I knew our website needed to reflect the quality of our work. Our projects are high-end, and the first thing people do is go online. If our site doesn’t represent us well, it’s detrimental to our business,” he said.

The Challenge: Transitioning from Traditional Advertising to a Digital-First Strategy
Kirk purchased Air Sound & Vision in 2012, inheriting a business that relied solely on radio advertising and local directories. As digital advertising began to dominate, Kirk saw that being accessible online was not just beneficial but essential. “We tried building our own website,” he recalled, “but it required more upkeep than we had time for. The site eventually became outdated and broken.” Kirk needed a partner who could bring his website up to industry standards and keep it running smoothly – and that’s where Localsearch came in.
The Solution: A Seamless Website and Ongoing Support

Partnering with Localsearch’s Local Marketing Specialist, Scott Wilson, Air Sound & Vision launched a website designed to showcase their capabilities and ensure a seamless experience for clients. “The build was easy. Scott and the Localsearch team understood our business needs from the start, which made it painless,” said Kirk. Localsearch focused on a clear, user-friendly design to make services accessible and reflect Air Sound & Vision’s premium quality.

This new digital solution meant Kirk could step back from the site’s daily management. “For me, the real value is the time saved,” he said. “It’s everything to be able to trust one company to handle this so I can focus on running the business.”

Results: A Trusted Online Presence that Grows with Air Sound & Vision

Since launching the new website, Air Sound & Vision has seen steady traffic and leads as new clients discover their services online. And with Localsearch, Kirk no longer has to worry about digital upkeep. “Scott keeps our website running smoothly, and he checks in regularly, which forces us to refocus on our advertising and keeps us competitive.”

Localsearch’s support allowed Kirk’s team to transition seamlessly from traditional to digital marketing, resulting in a remarkable growth period. “Over the past eight years, we’ve doubled in size, added staff, and moved to a larger location. It’s been a strong performance,” Kirk noted. “Localsearch’s services allow us to maintain an advertising budget without constantly adjusting, and the growth speaks for itself.”

With Localsearch, Air Sound & Vision not only established a robust digital presence but also gained a reliable partner committed to their long-term success. “To be able to trust one company with the future-proofing of our business and know it’s being done right – that means everything to us.”
