Google Tests Filter Sidebar in Search

Google is currently testing a filter sidebar with images to help users alter their search query for more customised results.

Those who can use the test will see a filter system with images on the left-hand side when searching for products on search engine results pages.

Updated Reels Features on Instagram

Instagram has released updates to Reels providing more creativity in how people can use the tool. New Reels features include:

  • Reel clip running lengths was increased from 15-seconds to 90-seconds.
  • The addition of more sound effects was added to the audio library.
  • The ability for users to upload their own audio files.
  • Interactive stickers usually used for Stories can now be added to Reels.

Instagram’s Latest Update Could Impact Your Account Reach 

Instagram is expanding its Sensitive Content Control feature, leaving more accounts potentially impacted if their content is considered sensitive.

Sensitive content is defined by Instagram as, “Posts that don’t necessarily break our rules, but could potentially be upsetting to some people.”

Users can now pin posts on Instagram.

That’s not all; Instagram has also released an option for users to pin posts on their profiles. The new feature will allow brands and user accounts to strategically pin their posts at the top of their profile grid.

NEW ‘Basic Ads’ Product for Meta 

Meta is currently developing a Basic Ads product that would be measured by ‘basic’ metrics, including engagement and video views.

The development of more privacy-friendly ads is only in the early stages. Even though Facebook Ads options are known for targeted audiences and demographic options, the new style of ads could prove beneficial for engagement and awareness campaigns.

Apple Announces iOS 16 Updates 

Apple has shared insight on the latest iOS 16 updates, including controversial features allowing users to edit or ‘unsend’ recent messages in iMessage.

The Latest updates announced at WWDC 2022:

Customisable lock screen.

The lock screen will be able to support widgets for third-party apps, show notifications from the bottom of the screen and the ‘Live Activities’ API will update notifications in real-time.

Apple Pay Later.

Those with Apple Pay will be able to pay for a purchase over four payments with zero interest.

Edit or ‘unsend’ iMessages.

Users will be able to edit and ‘unsend’ recent messages, even mark a thread as unread.

Live text.

Text detected in photos will now have an option to be translated or replaced.

SharePlay.

People will be able to stream in sync with friends via iMessage.

NEW Insights in TikTok’s Creative Center

TikTok has recently added insights in Creative Center to show what content is trending. The latest insight tool will make it a whole lot easier to find popular sounds, hashtags, videos and influencers before they trend.

Twitter Trials ‘Product Drops’ Reminders 

The initial test for ‘Product Drops‘ Reminders has begun. The new feature has been designed to ensure your audience never misses out on exclusive product launches from businesses.

The latest addition to Twitter Shopping will remind people about upcoming product drops via merchant’s Tweets.

Product Listing Function on LinkedIn Profiles

LinkedIn has added a feature that highlights products and projects users have worked on via their profile.

The new feature will provide users with an opportunity to share accomplishments with their community.
