Important Dates for Your April 2022 Content Plan
April Fools’ Day — 1 April 2022
April Fools’ Day is traditionally FULL of pranks and jokes, but beware if you post your joke after 12:00pm you may incur some comments. Some people believe the fun should end by noon — after that the jokes on the joker.
Regardless of timing, April Fools’ Day is a great day for some light-hearted fun on your social media accounts.
Ways you can incorporate April Fools’ Day into your content calendar:
- Create a fake product and share it with your social media audience; just ensure to tell them it’s a joke by the end of the day! For example, a fudge store could create soap-flavoured fudge.
- Play a harmless prank on some of your team and share it on social media — with their permission of course.
World Autism Awareness Day — 2 April 2022
Every April, the world recognised World Autism Awareness Day. The aim of the day is to increase the understanding and acceptance of Autism.
Ways you can incorporate Autism Month into your content calendar:
- Share a personal story.
- Get your business involved in a fundraising event and share with your followers how they too can get involved.
- If you work in an industry which provides products for Autisic individuals and their families, feature these products on the day.
International Children’s Book Day — 2 April 2022
International Children’s Book Day is held annually on or around the 2 April and is celebrated to inspire a love of reading in young people. Sponsored by the International Board of Books for Young People, the date was coined in 1967 on Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday.

- Share a throwback of your favourite childhood book, such as a photo of the book cover, a character or other.
- If you stock children’s books within your business, this is the day to feature them all over your social media.
- Dress as your favourite children’s book character, and share it on social media
Find A Rainbow Day — 4 April 2022
Throughout history, rainbows are used as a symbol of hope and wellness. This is what makes Find a Rainbow Day so much fun as who doesn’t like to spot a glimpse of a rainbow after a storm?

- Share a photo of a beautiful rainbow.
- Ask your followers to share an image of a beautiful rainbow.

World Health Day — 7 April 2022
Every year, World Health Day is recognised on the 7 April. Each year is given a different theme or focus, with 2022’s theme chosen to be ‘our planet, our health’.
The theme of the 2022 World Health Day focuses around how weather events caused by climate change poses risks to our health. For example, floods can cause shortages of safe drinking water, increasing the risk of poisoning.
